Numerology

~Numerology

God has been called the Master Mathematician.  Everything in the Universe is precise and calculated.  I enjoyed the TV series titled, numbers.  It showed me how numbers play a crucial part in our lives.  I don’t know why I woke this morning with this thought on my mind but I decided to take a look at numerology today and focus on two words, both have four letters.  Love and Hate.  Love is the twelfth letter of our alphabet. Hate is the eighth.

First let us consider the significance of the number four in numerology.  Four is seen as the first Solid Number.  Spatial in scheme or order in manifestation.  Static as opposed to the circular and the dynamic.  Wholeness; totality; completion; solid.  Earth; order.  Rational- relativity and justice. Symbol of measurement.  Foundation.

Native American as well as other cultures ceremonies and ritual acts are repeated in fours.  For example the four cardinal directions, N,S,E,W, the four points of a cross, four rivers that lead to paradise, the symbolic use throughout the Old Testament.  Also Hitlers use of it in the swastika.  The Damba Tree of Life has four limbs which stem from the four sacred streams which represent the four boundless wishes of compassion, affection, love and impartiality. Four is the number of the Earth, symbolized by the square.  Four is the number representing the body, FYI—Three is the number that represents the soul.  The list goes on…there are four Gospels, four cardinal virtues—prudence, fortitude, justice, and temperance, there are four horsemen of the Apocalypse.  Revelation in the Bible uses it frequently…There are four angels standing at the four corners of the Earth, holding back the four winds of the earth.  This type of prophesy is repeatedly used in Revelation as four-fold descriptions.

It is no coincidence that the number four is a powerful and critical number in regards to its choice of use and application.

Love and Hate are both powerful emotions that have built powerful empires, and destroyed them as well.

Let’s start with Hate whose first letter is “H” the eighth letter of our alphabet.

Eight represents the pairs of opposites.  The octagon is the beginning of the transformation of the square into a circle and vice versa.  Eight has significance as a powerful number because it is said to represent completion, and “ALL” possibilities.  To the Buddhist, eight is completion, to the Hindu, eight is the number of chakras and to the Japanese, eight is the “many”.

Eight that also rhymes with Hate is certainly a powerful number, but look at Love and what the number twelve has to offer.

Love whose first letter is “L” is the twelfth letter of our alphabet.

Twelve is a measurement of time and consciousness.  Twelve hours in a day, our day is divided up into two equal measurements of 12 hours.  Twelve months is how we measure our mortal passing in years.  Twelve equals the third dimension 3D.
There are 12 astrological signs in the zodiac.  Twelve is also a significant measuring system…a dozen (12), a gross (12 X 12), a shilling (12 pence) and a foot (12 inches).

The significance of twelve in world religions…

12 days of Yuletide and Christmas.
12 members of the council of the Dalai Lama
12 paladins of Charlemagne
12 Knights of the Round Table
12 Terrestrial Branches to the Chinese
12 Fruits of the Spirit to the Christian
12 gates and foundation stones of the Holy City
12 tribes of Israel
12 Apostles
12 stars on the crown of the woman’s head (Gen 37:9)
12 tribes inscribed on the 12 gates to the New Jerusalem
12 foundations with the names of the 12 Apostles hold up the wall to Jerusalem
12 gods and goddesses of Olympus 12 titans 12 days and nights to the Graeco-Romans
12 precious stones in Aarons breastplate
12 sons of Jacob
12 descendants of Ali to the Islamic
12 disciples to the Mithra
12 days of duel between Chaos and Cosmos according to the Sumero-Semitic

In my humble opinion in comparison of the numbers eight-hate and twelve-love is that to me 8 appears to be very base and targets ones belief system and signifies possibilities.  12 on the other hand is of infinite significance and has far reaching and eternal potential.

Hate in all it’s forms has always targeted the base human emotion and been used for perverted use of power to gain more power and wealth.  Hate is very self centered in the fact that nothing else matters and nobody else matters except what the individual expressing that emotion feels.

Love on the other hand according to the numbers has far reaching and eternal significance.  When you Love you give of yourself and open up yourself to be hurt or rejected.  When you Hate you close yourself off and seal off any attempt of another to break down your barrier, you guard your emotions, you will lash out before you have the time to think about your actions.  Love has the ability to help one grow in ways that one filled with hate will never experience.

They say that numbers do not lie…LOL this may be my personal and bias take on numerology when looking at the difference between Love and Hate, but this is my story and I’m sticking to it.

  1. As I stated at the beginning I woke up this morning with the thoughts of Love and Hate on my mind. As I lay there I considered what similarities and differences they both possess other than the definition of the words themselves. I then decided to use their placement in our alphabet as a starting point for my research, this is what I concluded with my own interpretation added to the findings.
